Your task
is to programme a TV station's entire output for an entire evening,
based on genre. You need to design an evening's viewing that will appeal
to fans of the genre that you choose - but will not bore them.
Process
- Start
at 7pm, finish around midnight
- Choose
a selection of different programme formats - mix comedy, drama. documentaries,
feature films etc for varied viewing. You should have no more than
one programme within each format (ie you can only choose ONE feature
film, ONE documentary)
- Make
your choice from existing, real programmes. Research your selection
by surfing what's on around the world:
- You
will need to produce a schedule giving times, titles of programmes
and a brief (one or two short sentences) description of each programme
that will make it appeal to an audience. Design your work so that
it looks like a TV listings page - use a table in Word if you like.
Here is an example, but you should look at some TV listings magazines
to get an idea.
| Time & Name of

down the hatches and sit tight for the ride of your life.

FEATURE FILM |
Spielberg's
masterpiece still has the power to make us scream and scream again.
Starring Roy Schneider, Rober Shaw & Richard Dreyfuss |
- You
will also need to think of a catchy name and concept for your night
-"Horror Special" isn't going to persuade anyone to sit
in front of their TV screen for a whole evening.
Tips
- Remember
that all your programmes must belong to the same genre, although
your audience will change as the evening progresses
- Think
carefully about time slots, and keeping viewers watching from one
programme to another
- Think
carefully about the content of your programmes - have you paid attention
to the watershed?
- Is there
a star who could host this night?
