Narrative
- Every Picture Tells A Story
This week,
you have a research task.
Find
a dramatic photograph which contains a narrative that you can deconstruct.
ie - the
photograph has to contain or suggest
- characters
- equilibrium,
disequilibrium, new equilibrium
- binary
opposition
and you
must be able to list some of the technical codes and symbolic codes.
We will work on these in class next week so DO
NOT FORGET TO BRING THEM TO THE
LESSON.
You can
try looking in
- magazines
- books
- newspapers
and the
following websites:
Try to
get as good quality an image as you can - you will be analysing the
details so you need a high quality, high resolution image of a reasonable
size. Tearing one out of a magazine is the easiest way to do this.
You should
also begin revising for your first media exam which will be held next
week.
This will
test your understanding of the work we have done so far and will involve
you analysing a previously unseen media text. You will need to revise
all the terminology you have learned, and check that you understand
and can write about media texts in relation to
- audience
- the
production process
- genre
- narrative
