To test
your understanding of the work we have done on audience, you must
complete the following task:
1. Find
a film poster. You only have to look as far as the walls in C11 -
you are welcome to come in at lunchtimes to make notes. If you prefer,
you can find film posters at the following websites:
If you
are looking for a particular poster, try each site and see which one
gives you the best quality image (ie the highest resolution).
2. Examine
the poster carefully. Print out a copy for reference.
3. Decide
who the target audience is for this film.
4.Write
a list of the ways in which this film poster tries to attract its
target audience. You should try to find at least seven different ways
and consider the following:
Also
consider if an audience needs foreknowledge to understand what
the film is about. Does the poster create an enigma? Write
your list as a series of bullet points and make sure they do not overlap
or repeat each other.
5. Use
your bullet points to write a short analysis of the poster. You should
write 300-500 words explaining exactly how this poster attracts an
audience to the film. Attach your printed copy of the poster to your
assignment.
6.Hand
it in next Thursday (18 September).
