Science Fiction has been a successful genre since the late 19th century, when books by writers such as HG Wells began to deal explicitly with the impact of technology on our culture. Science Fiction television, because it is not set in a particular time, can be repeated endlessly, continually gathering up new generations of fans. Many of these cult classics have also been released on DVD, and their lo-fi approach to special effects is part of their charm.
